A Birthday Surprise!
For my mother's 50th birthday, my dad planned a special day down at Pleasant Hill Lake in Ohio. This lake has very special meaning to my parents because they both worked at Pleasant Hill when they were in high school and that is how they first met. My dad arranged for their close friends from high school, Sue and Rex, to meet them at the lake as well for a day of boating. What my mom didnt know was that I was going to be flying in that morning from Florida. My brother picked me up from the airport and drove me to the lake to surprise my mom. She did not suspect a thing and in fact didnt recognize me at first- telling my brother that: "Hey that girl looks like Kris, THAT IS KRIS!!!" So glad I could share the day with my mom and the rest of the family. We had an awesome time boating and a great weekend together!

Bunny Sitting!
This summer I bunny sat Jacob- the most adorable bunny in the world. Jacob belongs to Sergio's little sister Anna. Anna went on vacation during the summer and I took care of Jacob for her. A few things I learned about bunnies were that 1) They poop and pee like crazy and 2) they chew anything and everything (including wires and carpet!)and 3) Their cages smell pretty bad if you dont keep up on them! I love Jacob, but I think I will stick to dogs!
Happy Birthday Mami!!!
Summer Fun
We spent the 4th of July in the Florida Keys with some friends. Gorgeous weather! We had a great time with Jose, Jen, Lucas, Humberto and Delila!
The girls! Delila, Jen, and I
I love the Florida Keys! So laidback and peaceful.
The guys did some fishing
We anchored the boat along a sandbar and relaxed in the water!
Red Bull Flutag in Miami at Bayfront Park
This was so crowded and HOT!!! But fun to watch at least for a bit- Each team gets a sponsor and builds a plane that will "fly" off a ramp. The object is for their "plane" to stay in the air for the longest-eventually all teams end up in the water!

Boston Trip
Sergio and I went to Boston in June to meet up with 2 of my best friends from high school. We were able to meet up with Liz and Jason (who live in CO) since they were in town for a wedding. Erin and Pete live in Boston and were wonderful hosts to us! Sergio and I LOVE BOSTON!!!!!!! We love everything about it! We hope to go back and visit often :) Most of all we really enjoyed spending time with Erin, Pete, Liz, and Jason. So great to be with good friends. I loved seeing Erin and Liz and I loved knowing that no matter how much time passes between each of our visits, we can always pick up right where we left off with each other. I cherish these friendships and am thankful that I have these wonderful ladies in my life. I am also thankful that Pete and Jason are such wonderful guys and that I had an opportunity to get to know them even better. I think Sergio would agree that this was one of the funnest weekends we have had in quite some time! {Sergio would like to add that Boston has the best beer! He loves SAMUEL ADAMS and had an awesome time at the brewery :) }
Living in Downtown Miami!!
Sergio and I started looking for an apartment in downtown Miami. We wanted to live closer to the ocean and the beach and have more options of things to do. Pembroke Pines is a nice area, but is not the most happening place in Broward County. The challenge was finding an apartment in a high rise that was dog friendly and an apartment that accepted our 80lb Lab! That was a mission in itself! We finally found some loft style apartments on Biscayne Bay in downtown Miami. We fell in love with one apartment in particular on the 23rd floor and completed the paperwork right away! We were so excited! However, now I had to find a new job in the Miami area. After almost 6 months of applying, interviewing, and looking I had no luck. We kept our apartment in Pembroke Pines(bc of my current job) and our apartment in Miami throughout that time. Both Sergio and I went back and forth between Miami and Pembroke Pines to visit each other, spending mostly just weekends together. It was tough and it was very sad when we decided to finally throw in the towel and stay in Pembroke Pines due to the economy. I just could not find a job in the Miami area. One day we would love to move back to the Miami! We had fun while it lasted! We really enjoyed going to the beach, walking along the bay, enjoying the nearby restaurants, shops, bars and live bands. Though things did not turn out excactly as planned with our Miami apartment, Sergio and I are both very thankful to have maintained our jobs throughout everything going on in the economy this past year.
I graduated from Nova Southeastern University!
The year started out great as I finished up my last couple classes for my Master's degree. I finished my last class in April. What an awesome feeling it was. After writing research paper after research paper, doing presentations, studying for tests, etc etc. I was ready to be DONE! I had considered starting a doctorate shortly after, but now have reconsidered. I am more than happy to take a break from school and I look forward to one day pursuing a doctorate. Currently, my masters is in Exceptional Student Education, which allows me to teach any student K-12 in the field of special education.
Blogging:Take 2!!!
So we sorta disappeared off the blogosphere(?) and now we are back!!!! :) Thanks to Courtney and Liz for suggesting I get back into. Maybe if I am lucky one day Sergio will sit down and write a post to!! lol Though he is next to me right now as I write this! He likes our new layout and even helped with a title for this post! Woohooo! Go Team!! We are such a cheesy couple haha
Our last post was about a year ago, when DC had just turned 2! Now DC just turned 3 years old and Cisco just turned 4 in December. It is really hard to believe Sergio and I have had these pups for so long! We have had a busy year including: Sergio changing jobs, I finished my Master's degree in Exceptional Student Education, we moved to downtown Miami for 6 months then moved back to Pembroke Pines, and the biggest news.... WE GOT ENGAGED!! Lots of exciting things happening for us!!:) I will post a mini-recap of the past year to catch our blog up to speed- with hopes that I keep up with it better this time around!:)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DC!!
My little baby is 2 years old today! DC is the happiest dog I have ever known. He has cheered me up and has brought a smile to my face an infinite amount of times! He really truly brings joy to my life and I am so thankful God gave us doggies! :)DC is so playful and puppylike every single day!! I love that he still has some of his puppy fat and puppy wrinkles in his face. I always tell Sergio that I love our dogs so much I can't even imagine what it will be like when we have kids! Those kids will be smothered in love!:)I am so thankful that we brought DC home from the pet store and made him a part of our family. Time and time again he has proven to be the most faithful and loving companion I could ever ask for! :)
